You Made My Day Fluffles Card

I told someone on SCS that I would stamp them some images of this stamp of Fluffles, so after I had stamped the images for them, I decide to stamp a couple for myself. I colored in two images, and then put some clear glaze on some parts of one and then cut some parts of one to layer onto the other ~ this is the last of my Ruby Red cardstock.. good thing a big order is coming tomorrow so I won't be without for long. Ruby Red, River Rock, Blue Bayou, Very Vanilla and Western Sky DSP are the papers used, stamps are Fluffles and Stampin' UP! Stem Sayings ~ I used a slit punch for the scallop border. and my favorite... Dimensionals!!! no card should be without them!

Something for someone special

There is a lady who works at the food pantry at a local thrift shop that I donate food to. She went to Australia this past two weeks to visit her grandchildren. She is returning on Tuesday and when I was in the store last week I heard her daughter, who has taken her job while she is gone, mention that she wanted to buy a card for everybody to sign.. the other lady aske me if I would make something for her.. and I said of course I would. It's 12 x 12 size. I am going to put it in a plastic sleeve when everybody signs it so that she can hang it up. Nothing fancy.. just a Welcome Back to the Pantry (which is what her daughter wanted it to say) and some places for people to sign a little note. I hope she likes it.

Special Olympics and a handstamped card

Today was a very special day for my oldest daughter Heather ~ today was Special Olympics Track and Field. She participated in three events and was awarded a ribbon and two medals. I am so proud of her ~ it was so much fun to get to watch her and the others having so much fun. The volunteers were so great with all the kids too ~ thank you.

I did make a card tonight.. it started with a stamped image that I watercolored and then grabbed some cardstock I already had cut.. then some pattern paper and I had to change to another stamped image because I didn't think the first one went with the paper.. I have so much going on on this card that it made my head spin! just kidding.. I used the stamp set Essence of Love that is in the Occasions Mini SU catalog. Taken with Teal, Summer Sun and Confetti Cream Cardstock.. some pattern paper from Wild Asparagus that I trimmed around the design.. inked the edges (inked the edges of everything, even the ribbon).. then I stamped over with French Script and the weeds and butterfly.. on the main image I stamped the weeds/flower stamp.. then stamped the butterfly in versamark and used clear embossing powder.. then took a sponge over it.. nothing fancy.. just many different things.. probably because of the busy day I have had.. I thought I needed a busy card! ha ha..

tomorrow I am hoping that I can get some cards made for deployed troops.. I did send a PM to a lady on SCS saying I wanted to send some to her to send to troops too.. so I got to get busy stamping.

Thank you Soldier Card

I just love this stamp image of the soldier with the flag in the background ~ I am so glad that Stampin' UP! came out with a new military set.

I used Blue Bayou and River Rock on this card, along with some Western Sky DSP.

I punched the scallop punch out and then punched it again on the scallops to create the small peaks. I had a long piece of cardstock that I put some adhesive on the back of it and then the back of the scallop so that I could put back into the punch to repunch it.

The soldier image is embossed in clear embossing powder.

Celebrate 4th of July Patriotic Card

I signed up for a Patriotic Card Swap on SCS the other day and tonight thought I would make up a card ~ that might, or might not end up being the card I make for the swaps.. this one took some time.. I was using my stamp-a-mi-jig and had stamped the little dot to fill in the cirles.. but must've not stamped it right because it was off.. so I had to restamp it and then realized I could eyeball it and that is how I did the rest.. on the first one I used a white marker to try and cover up my boo boo. I used several sets on this card.. Celebrate Everything, Mark the Date, Full Calendar, All In a Row and Independence Day. Cardstock colors are: River Rock, Blue Bayou, Ruby Red, Whisper White and Western Sky DSP. I used inks in the colors of River Rock, Ruby Red, and Blue Bayou. Circle Punches and some Linen Thread ~ and of course Dimensionals!!! my favorite thing in the stamping world.

It's been a very long day.. our FRG (Family Readiness Group) held a Battalion Family Picnic today and it was chilly and windy.. and then finally the sun came out. We had a lot of fun and some really good food. I took over 600 photos that I will need to sort through.. I took some of everybody and all the games, etc.. it was a blast!

SC172 Embrace Life Card

Ahhhh.. what a night ~ I am getting to watch the St. Louis Cardinal's (on a muted TV) and am getting to listen to the Detroit Red Wings (via Red Wings radio on the internet) and am a happy girl.. well at least I was when there was one minute left in the hockey game and Nashville scored a goal to tie the game... ugh! I decided to get in some stamping while I watched and listened and also wanted to try out the markers with aquapainter on watercolor paper and this is what I ended up with.

I used the sketch challenge 172 on SCS for this card as well.

Randy Pausch Lecture: Really Achieving Your Childhood Dreams

If you have the time.. this is a must watch video.

From Youtube: Carnegie Mellon Professor Randy Pausch, who is dying from pancreatic cancer, gave his last lecture at the university Sept. 18, 2007, before a packed McConomy Auditorium. In his moving talk, "Really Achieving Your Childhood Dreams," Pausch talked about his lessons learned and gave advice to students on how to achieve their own career and personal goals. For more, visit www.cmu.edu/randyslecture.

"Journeys" are special University Lectures in which Carnegie Mellon faculty members share their reflections on their journeys -- the everyday actions, decisions, challenges and joys that make a life.

I have a bad pancreas, but do not have cancer ~ this man is such an inspiration to many people. God Bless you and your family Mr. Pausch.

3 X 3 Mini Card ~ Merci Hearts & Flowers

The stamp used on this card is from the set named Merci that was one of the free Sale-A-Bration promotion sets. I have never inked it til today ~ I know, shame on me! I let me kids invite a friend to go to the swimming pool today. We have an big Fitness center here on Fort Leonard Wood that has an indoor pool, so we can swim year round and the kids love it. They each brought a friend and I took my stamping goodies.. I always do when I take them to the pool.. they swim and I stamp. I usually take a few sets and stamp a bunch of images.. I also take my Watercolor Crayons in the big tin along with an aquapainter and some blender pens.. I sit and color in some of the images I stamp. This was one of the images I stamped and colored.

I had a pack of 3x3 DCWV mini cards that I layered the stamped image on some Wild Wasabi, along with some brads and white grossgrain ribbon.. I did use a glue pen and some irridescent ice glitter ~ so shimmery and pretty.

It's been a long day, so I am off to bed, but wanted to post this before heading that way.

Something for Kids Clsasroom ~ from Brother's Unit in Iraq

Back in December I went to my son's classroom and took "kits" that I had put together for each kid to make a card to send to a soldier. The kids had written letters to soldiers and had made flip books for them as well. I had stamped the Frosty image on white tags, but left the coloring up to them.. we had camo, patriotic, flowered, etc.. Frostys and they all looked so wonderful. The kids assembed the cards with the ribbon, tags, fancy paper and more that I had brought for them.. I had some stamps and wheels with ink pads for them to decorate the base of their cards as well. We had SO much fun! and the cards turned out so great. The kids wrote a note inside to a soldier. We then had three piles for the kids to lay their letters, flip books and cards that they had made.. the dad of one student was in Iraq and the brother of another was there too, along with my son's uncle. I took the three large piles of artwork and letters and then mailed them off each in a priority envelope to all three soldiers.. in February my son's classroom received a package.. and when they opened it they were in awe~ my son came home that day and told me that I HAD to come to school with him the next day to see what his class had gotten in the mail. He was busting at the seams to tell me what it was, but said he wanted me to see it first. I was in awe myself when I seen the beautiful poster that my brother's unit had made for the kids in the class.. and that each had signed it.. my heart swelled up with so much pride and for the joy it brought the kids.. it's something hard to explain ~ each kid was smiling and reading what the soldiers had written.. it had their teacher's name on it and it was for them! Thank you to all the soldiers of the HHC 1st Brigade Combat Team (Bastogne) 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) for your sacrifices each and every day ~ and for putting smiles on each of these children's faces ~ it was priceless.

HiPPo Birthday Wishes Card

I still have the Pun Fun set that I borrowed from my friend ~ so I thought I would make another card with it. This hippo is so cute. I stamped two, colored both and then cut the head out to layer on top of the other.. I used an aquapainter with SU ink pads that I squeezed together to get some ink on the lid. The embossing on the Blue Bayou piece is made with an Empressor and the template that comes in the Mat Pack. This whole card started because I found some of the Blue Bayou squares on my scrap pile that were from some cards I made to send to troops and for SU Tulsa Regional ~ funny because today that card was featured on the Stampin' Up! website in the Stamper's Showcase ~ I had some Basic Grey scraps laying there too.. I attached them to the square and then cut the it down the middle.. I like the way it turned out and have the pieces cut to make another one.. just gotta color and emboss it.

*ps.. here in Missouri the weather has been crazy like usual.. we had some snow flurries and rain.. my hubby took our son out turkey hunting this morning and they said that it was snowing like all! it's April!

Dotted Birthday Birdie Card

I was so hoping that there would be a way that I could emboss using the polka dotted Cuttlebug folder ~ and not emboss part of the card stock.. such as an oval in the middle. However after many unsuccessful attempts at this, I decided to just make a card with a piece I had already embossed. I borrowed the Pun Fun stamp set from a friend (thanks Linda) and wanted to make something before returning it to her, so I used the little birdie.. so cute! I used scraps that were laying on the desk to put this together... copic markers were used to color in the bird.

I am off to bed.. I have to get up early to take a load of donations to the school for the band yard sale.. hopefully the weather will be nice, yesterday they were saying possible snow ~ are you kidding! hopefully so!

Cards for Cancer Survivors

A while back I had read a thread on SCS about a lady collecting cards from around the United States to hand out to cancer survivors after the Relay for Life event. I made 15 cards and sent them to her and just happened to see the thread again this morning and thought I might post it here for others to check out and if you are a stamper ~ maybe you too might have some cards to donate for the cause.

Sketch Challenge "Oval" Birdie Told Me Card

I recently started the Sketch Challenges on SCS and this one was to have an offset oval on your card ~ this is what I came up with. I really like this set ~ A Little Birdie Told Me. When I mounted the set, I seperated the saying from the bird stamp so that I could stamp them individually and am so happy that I did. It's been a long day and I wanted to get this card made before heading to bed.

Tomorrow we will be in St. Louis for the Cardinal's Baseball Game!!!

We are so excited.. I have been to see a Cardinals' ballgame before, but not to the new stadium and my two youngest have never been to a major league baseball game.. so they are really excited. I got my Albert Pujols #5 jersey out this afternoon and hung it in my room ready to wear to the big game tomorrow.. I bought my daughters each a shirt and hat today to wear. Go Cardinals!!

Okay.. now to stamping ~ I did make some this evening.. and thought I would post them before I hit the sack, because it's after 10 pm, and we are getting up early..

I made the calendar one for my niece whose birthday is on the 29th.. I am not sure what I will use for the "date" but will figure out something before it gets in the mail.. I embossed everything on the card. I made a couple others.. I am trying to use the So Much stamp set that Stampin' UP! gave to those that attended a Regionals event this year.. the dotted circle I used with versamark to make a background for both cards.. the flower on the pink card was embossed on vellum and then colored on the back using Watercolor Crayons.. and then an aquapainter to swirl the colors together.

Thanks for visiting my blog.. I got to rest up for all the cheering I'll be doing tomorrow ~ Yeah Cardinals!

I have them too.. but the SS is awesome and I love adding it to my cards. Thanks for looking and reading ~ Pam

Fluffles Celebrate You, You, You Card!

I just recently started to participate in the Sketch Challenges on Splitcoaststampers, in fact, this is my second one.. I have received the notifications for them for a while.. but have decided to take the challenge.. and they are so much fun... here is my creation for this week's challenge.
This morning me and my two youngest children attended my husband's last graduation ceremoney as First Sergeant of Charlie Company 2/10 Inf. Basic Training Company here at Fort Leonard Wood, MO. I know how special it is on graduation day to see the families there to support their soldiers.. makes my heart swell with so much pride to see my fellow Americans feeling the same way I did when I watched my oldest graduation Air Force Basic Training. Choosing to join the military is such a big undertaking these days and I am proud of each and every one of the soldiers for their choice to serve our great country. I went and shook the hand of each one of the soldiers that were lined up in the front of the auditorium and told them how proud I was of each one of them and thanked them for their service to our country. I am one who cries when I hear the Star Spangled Banner... I don't take for granted the freedoms that me and my family have and am so very proud to be an American.
Okay.. I should thank you if you read though that.. it was just a special day for my family. I remember the day my husband took over Charlie Company and have witnessed the awesome training company that they have became.
GREAT NEWS!!! I am a BIG St. Louis Cardinals Fan ~ and we are going to the game on Sunday.. we got free tickets and will be in a special area that is catered with food and drink.. I think we are down the 3rd base line.. I wish it was 1st base so I could watch Albert Pujols all afternoon ~ I'll have my Canon camera with my zoom lens so I'll be watching him up close and personal ~ me and the kids are psyched about going.. my daughter who is 11 has been making posters to take with us. This will be the two youngest's first baseball game.. I'll have some pictures to post I'm sure.
Have a GREAT night ~ Pam
